Passive Speakers / Quick Guide
These instructions will help you quickly get up and running with your Dynaudio loudspeakers. They don’t replace the Operating Guide. Please visit dynaudio.com/support for more information.
Positioning
CAUTION
SPIKES WITH SHARP TIPS
Some loudspeaker models and Dynaudio stands are equipped with spikes. Their sharp tips could cause injuries and can damage sensitive surfaces like hardwood or tile flooring.
- Be careful when handling the loudspeakers and stands.
- Place discs (such as coins) between the spikes and the surface under them for protection. Note: spikes generally won’t damage carpets.
Multi-channel setup
In multi-channel setups, additional channels (speakers) must be added. See the Operating Guide for more information.
Positioning compact speakers
Compact speakers will perform at their best when used with a dedicated stand (such as Dynaudio stands). Due to their compact dimensions, they can also be placed on a shelf or a cabinet.
When placing loudspeakers in an enclosed space such as an audio/video cabinet, allow clearance from the surrounding walls to the top and rear of the speaker.
Floor-standing speakers
- Adjust each of the four spikes in the base plinth for maximum stability. Heed the warnings above regarding the spikes.
Connecting
Cable and speakers
- Connect a two-pole (+/-) loudspeaker cable to the binding posts, located on the back of the cabinet.
The posts can accommodate 4mm banana plugs, cable spades or bare wires.
Note
Ensure that none of the leads are shorting with another through loose strands or otherwise.
Cable and amplifier
Switch off the amplifier and connect the speaker cables to the amplifier’s loudspeaker terminals.
Note
Ensure that the red marked post of the speaker is connected to the red marked output of the amp, and the white or black marked post to the white or black marked output.
Multi-channel connections
Proceed in the same way to connect all the channels in your multichannel setup.
Refer to your multichannel power amplifier’s instructions for more help.
Operation
- A new Dynaudio loudspeaker requires several weeks of playing to reach its optimum performance capability.
- Only use high-quality amplifiers, and run loudspeakers and amplifiers within specified power ratings.
