9to5 Media Services – Single-Source Publishing and Translation packages
These are our product literature publishing and translation packages.
If your brand has specific requirements, we can customize or extend these packages – let’s talk.
“Classic HT”
… aka the classic workflow based on existing product literature content and formats and human translation.
- We will accept your existing product literature in legacy formats such as Microsoft Word or Adobe InDesign.
- We will prepare your document(s) for translation (integrity and consistency checks).
- We will assign the translations to human translators. All work will be done in a professional translation management system where earlier translations from a client-specific translation memory can be reused, saving time and money.
- After translation, we will perform quality checks, make layout adjustments e.g. for longer translations, remap fonts as required and deliver the translations.
- Whenever you ask for it, we will make the translation memory generated during our work available to you in the industry-standard format (TMX).
“MT First”
This is the “machine translation first” model.
- We will convert your existing product literature from legacy formats such as Microsoft Word or Adobe InDesign to a target-neutral format (Markdown with YAML metadata).
- We will create YAML “recipes” that are later used to reassemble original content, translations and metadata.
- Working with your technical writer and/or subject-matter experts, we will modify the source content to increase translation-friendliness.
- We will convert the core content (without untranslatable metadata) to HTML and machine-translate these “stub” documents to the requested target languages.
- In an optional step, human translators will quality-check and edit the machine translations.
- Using the YAML “recipes” and a complex, customizable template, we will merge the source documents and the translations with the original metadata and optional navigation menus, resulting in valid, consistent documents sets that can be published as such.
